The Globally Connected Car
SFW worked with a large, prestigious British car manufacturer to provide the mobile (IoT) network infrastructure for their connected car solution. Our main objective was to support the framework to enable cars to achieve connectivity to mobile networks anywhere in the world.
International Considerations
There were many variables that could affect the customer experience. Our testing included:
- Checking that cross-border handover worked
- Ensuring connectivity could be attached to the correct network
- Ensuring local legal requirements were met
- Guaranteeing that the preferred network connectivity and the QoS integrated with the car’s hardware
Reproducing Scenarios
As part of our testing, we wanted to ensure the customer experience was captured in the live user environment. The team worked across Holland, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland to understand how network and requirement changes impacted end users. Our team trained up on the clientâs mobile equipment (Pelican Case with Car connectivity) in order to produce scenarios as close to the final customer experience as possible. This assessment activity gave us the benefit of being able to support live trace sessions as well as creating data logs for the hardware manufacturer.
What sets us apart
SFW is a dynamic team. We go where needed. Not only did we conduct face-to-face training with offsite teams to onboard the project, we also travelled further afield. In order to test the user experience, we had to be there in person as it simply was not possible to simulate the crossing of a border.
